The Ellis Lake Foundation is recruiting 10 children aged 3–15 to join our team for the Junior & Mini Great North Run 2026
Saturday 12th September 2026 🏃♀️🏃♂️
✨ Distances:
Mini Run (ages 3–8) → approx 1.5 km
Junior Run (ages 9–15) → approx 4 km
We’ll cover your race entry and provide a charity t-shirt 🎽 – all we ask is that you raise a minimum of £100 to help us support families caring for poorly children 💜
This is a fun, family-friendly event with an amazing atmosphere – a fantastic way for young people to make a difference while being part of something special! 🎉
👉 We only have 10 places available. If we receive more interest than spaces, we will hold a fair draw on Saturday 12th September 2026 to select the runners.
**Mini runners (age 3 – 8) must be accompanied by an adult around the course. Junior runners (age 9-16) have the option of running by themselves, or with an adult. Accompanying adults who are running are required to wear the specific accompanying adult bib, which is attached to the child’s run number**
Ballot & Place Allocation
Places are allocated through a ballot system, which means we don’t know the final number of spots until they are confirmed. We always request as many places as possible, but allocation is not guaranteed.
To help us request the right number, we ask everyone interested in running for us to register. This lets us show the demand and give ourselves the best chance of securing enough places for our runners.

Location: Newcastle → South Shields
We’ll cover the entry fee, charity running vest and provide fundraising support 🎽 – all we ask is that you raise a minimum of £350 to help us support families caring for poorly children 💜
